TellieTeleprompter Premium alternative
A Teleprompter Premium alternative for Mac.
Teleprompter Premium, listed on the Mac App Store as Teleprompter Pro+, is a long-running Mac teleprompter with video recording built in. Tellie takes a different approach: it lives by your camera, follows your voice, and stays hidden on calls.

The script listens back
A transparent window over your screen solves half the problem: you can see the words. The other half is pace. With a fixed scroll you either chase the text or wait for it. Tellie Pro's Voice Follow hears the words you say, on your Mac, in more than 40 languages, and keeps your current line by the lens. Pause to think and it waits. Skip a paragraph and it finds you.
Nobody on the call sees it
Tellie's window is excluded from screen capture by macOS, so sharing your whole screen in Zoom, Teams or Meet shows everything except your script. Recording in QuickTime, OBS or Loom works the same way.
It notices what you skipped
Mark the points you have to make and Stagehand checks each one off as you say it, in whatever words come out. Run long and it tells you quietly while there is still time to land the rest.
One payment
Pro is $29 once for up to 3 Macs, with every 1.x update included. Teleprompter Pro+ asks $59.99 a year or $159.99 for good.
Moving your scripts over
- Copy the script out of Teleprompter Pro+, or find the document you first wrote it in.
- Open it in Tellie, or paste it. Word, PDF, Pages, RTF, Markdown and plain text all work, and headings become sections.
- Add a
## !heading to anything you must not skip. That is optional; the script works as is.
When to stay with Teleprompter Pro+
It records video inside the teleprompter, and Tellie does not; with Tellie you record in the app you already use. It also lists support back to macOS 12, while Tellie needs an Apple silicon Mac on macOS 14 or later. If either of those decides it for you, it is a sensible pick.
Before you switch
