Script templates

Teleprompter script templates you can copy.

Four ready-to-use scripts and the handful of formatting habits that make any script easier to read out loud. Copy one, swap in your words, and read it from any teleprompter.

How to format a teleprompter script

A script for reading out loud is not an essay. It is closer to sheet music: short lines, clear breaks, and small notes to yourself about how to say it.

The templates below also use three optional Tellie marks. ## ! flags a section you must not skip, > key: names a point you want to make in your own words, and minutes: sets your time slot. In any other teleprompter they simply read as notes, so the templates work anywhere. The scripting guide explains the marks in two minutes.

[slow down]
Then the example that made it click.

Open in Tellie

Open in Tellie sends the script straight to the notch if Tellie is installed. More finished scripts, including a daily standup and a sponsored video read, are in the script library.

Write it, then say it once

The fastest edit is reading the draft out loud before you record. Anything you trip over, rewrite the way you actually said it. Anything you skipped without missing it, cut. What is left sounds like you, because it is.

Script questions

What is the best format for a teleprompter script?

Short lines with one thought each, a heading for every section, cues like [pause] in square brackets, and hard names spelled the way they sound. Keep paragraphs to two or three lines so your eyes never have to hunt.

How many words is a one-minute teleprompter script?

About 130 to 150 words for most speakers. Plan around 140 words a minute and read the draft out loud once to check your own pace.

Should I write numbers as words?

Writing them the way you will say them is the safe default. If you use Tellie key points, digits are fine: a key point of "40 percent" matches "forty percent". For a year, list both forms, since "2026" might come out as "twenty twenty six".

Do these templates work in other teleprompter apps?

Yes. They are plain text. The Tellie marks such as ## ! and minutes: read as ordinary notes in any other app.

Paste a template. Read it by the lens.
