The Mac teleprompter that understands

Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later) · macOS 14 or later
“The virtue of Tellie for me lies in my not having to control it.”
The teleprompter
It starts as a beautiful teleprompter that becomes magical.
Open a document and hit play. Tellie hangs from the notch near your camera, and hides there when done.
Made by Steve Chazin, a former Apple exec, to feel like it was always part of your Mac.
Voice follow
It follows the words you say
Click the mic and Tellie follows the words you actually say, one at a time, and waits while you pause.
Go off script and it keeps your place. Skip a line and it finds you. You talk. Tellie keeps up.
Watch a real take2:41Episode 12 · the cold open
- Hook in the first eight seconds
- Name the scoop before the sponsor
- One ask at the end, only one
Drag the handle.
Only you can see it
Tellie is invisible to screen recording, Zoom, Meet, and FaceTime. Record your whole screen and your words stay yours.
It sits right under your camera, so your eyes stay on the people you're talking to.
Say what you came to say.
Mark the points that matter, and they check themselves off as you say them, even in your own words. If time gets tight, Tellie gently nudges you while there's still time to cover everything. Tellie keeps track so you don't have to.
Nothing leaves your Mac.
“I named Tellie for my 3 year old granddaughter Ellie, who is just learning to read. I made her a promise to help her read, and I make this one to you: nothing Tellie touches ever leaves your Mac.”

On-device speech

Tellie vs. other voice teleprompters
Plenty of teleprompters scroll while you talk now. Tellie understands what you say, what you still need to say, and how the take went.

Need a feature you love on another app? Ask Steve to add it to Tellie.
Many early customers helped make Tellie what it is today. So for $29, once, you get more than an app that already does more than most of these. You get a developer who reads every message and keeps making it better.

Tellie users speak freely
“Once you've used a camera that lets you tap on the part of screen that you want in focus, you can't understand or tolerate cameras that don't. Tellie is this level of innovation, but for teleprompters.”
Tellie truly is a magnificent app.
I tried ten teleprompter apps, Tellie is the only one that just works.
Word level tracking is such a clever touch, following you even when you ad-lib or jump back solves the exact thing that makes normal teleprompters stressful.
Having a teleprompter that follows my speech instead of scrolling at a fixed speed is an absolute game changer.
I just used Tellie on my first Casting Director Zoom workshop in 13 years.
I now make eye contact with everyone, and connect deeper with people. I finally speak less from my notes, and more from my heart.
Your work reflects Steve [Jobs’] vision of simplicity & minimalism, merging form & function, and user experience first, always.

For Jens + Gabrian.

Tellie understands.
Stagehand follows your voice, guards the points you must not forget, and helps you nail each take, especially when you ad-lib. Tellie makes sure you cover everything important in time and tells you afterward how it went.
Steve dreamed this one up. Now it is real.
1.5.1 · AUG 4
Say it your way.
Stagehand now credits the points you make in your own words, not just the lines you read. It follows your numbers and contractions, and reads your marks however you write them.
1.5.2 · AUG 13
Your take, everywhere.
Companion turns any phone, tablet, or laptop into a console for your take, over your own Wi-Fi. And the new Take Coach reviews each one and hands you the single thing to tweak next.
1.5.3 · AUG 31
Clear as glass.
Tellie is remade in Apple's new Liquid Glass look: a soft glass bar that breathes with your voice as you read. The app menu tucks under a brand new icon, and Tellie is ready for macOS 27.
1.6.0 · SEP 10
Stays where you put it.
Tellie remembers which display it lives on, whether it was docked or floating, and exactly where and how big. A second monitor, a closed MacBook: it stays put. Raj S. asked for it. Tellie listened.
1.6.2 · SEP 16
Notes to yourself.
Write [pause] or [look at camera] anywhere in your document. Tellie shows it as a quiet note and glides right past. Bold and italic show up too. Yavuz Gürkan asked for it. Tellie listened.

Using Tellie
How does Tellie follow my voice?
Voice Follow listens with Apple's on-device speech recognition and moves the words as you say them. Pause and it waits. Skip ahead or ad-lib and it finds your place. Voice Follow is part of Tellie Pro, and every download includes 10 days of it.
Do I need a Mac with a notch?
No. Tellie runs on any Apple silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later. Without a notch (an iMac, a Mac mini, an external display) it sits top-center, just below the menu bar, with the same features.
What files can I open?
Plain text, Markdown, Rich Text, Word, PDF, and Pages. Bold, italics, and headings come through, and headings become sections you can jump to.
Does it work in my language?
About 50 languages, and it adapts to your accent. Voice Follow runs on your Mac, so it works in the languages Apple ships an on-device model for.
Stagehand
How do I mark what matters?
Three small marks. ## starts a section, ##! marks one you must cover, and > key: a phrase is a point that checks itself off when you say it, in your own words.
What is Take Coach?
When you finish a take, Take Coach reviews it: what landed, and the one change that makes the next take better. Everything it writes stays on your Mac.
Buying
What's free, and what's Pro?
Free is a complete teleprompter: open a script, scroll it, stay invisible to recordings, and push to the notch from any app or agent. Pro adds Voice Follow, Stagehand, Take Coach, Presenter Magic, and Companion.
What happens after 10 days?
Tellie becomes Tellie Free. The Pro features switch off, nothing is deleted, and you can buy at any time to turn them back on.
Can I use it on more than one Mac?
Yes. One purchase covers up to 3 Macs. Activate each one with the same key from your purchase email.
Are updates free?
Yes. Every Tellie 1.x update is free, and installs itself. If Pro is not for you, email within 14 days for a full refund.
Privacy
Can people see it on Zoom?
No. Tellie's window is excluded from screen capture, so your script is invisible to Zoom, Meet, FaceTime, recordings, and screenshots. Want it visible for a demo? One toggle in Settings, for this session only.
Does my voice leave my Mac?
No. Speech recognition runs on your Mac, and Tellie never keeps what you say.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up for the 10 days of Pro, and nothing to cancel. Pro is a license key you paste into Settings.
